Here are some of the way that Lone Star Labrador Retriever Rescue fulfills our mission:

• rescuing them from shelters
• providing sanctuary for them in foster homes
• providing appropriate medical care (including spaying and neutering)
• finding responsible and loving permanent homes for them

We are unable to rescue Labradors outside of the DFW area or Lab mixes.

When possible, Lone Star Labrador Retriever Rescue will assist Good Samaritans who have found stray Labradors. We will also try to assist owners who feel they must find a new home for their Labrador. Please understand that our primary focus is on saving purebred Labradors in area shelters who are in danger of being euthanized. We are rarely able to provide a foster home for a Lab surrendered by its owner.

Quick Facts About Lone Star Labrador Rescue

1. Our primary purpose is to re-home neglected or abandoned Labradors in safe and loving homes.
2. We do not have a shelter for potential adopters to visit. All of our dogs are placed into foster homes prior to adoption. They live as members of our family.
3. The majority of our dogs are between the ages of 1 and 5 years.
4. It is rare that we have puppies in our rescue.
5. All of our dogs are temperament tested and evaluated for suitability and re-homing potential.
6. LSLRR is made up entirely of volunteers who all share a love for Labs. We do not receive any payment for our time - we all work full time and "do rescue" after hours. Please be patient when asking for a reply.
7. Many of our dogs do not have formal obedience training - which is why training is part of our adoption contract.
8. If you have found a stray Labrador, please see "I just found a dog!" We are unable to accept a found Lab until ALL attempts to locate the dog's owner have been exhausted.

Lone Star Labrador Retriever Rescue is also committed to educating the public about responsible dog ownership. We believe that responsible pet owners spay or neuter their animals, keep them on an annual vaccination program, provide heart worm and flea preventative on a year round basis, provide basic training, and maintain their dogs as “inside” members of the family rather than as “outside” yard dogs.
